Name: | Cedar Mountains loop |
|
Details: | Cedar Mountains is a Great Basin range west of Stansbury Mountains, before the Boneville Salt Flats. This loop, taken from Gregg Bromka's MTB Wasatch book, follows dirt roads in an effort to circumnavigate most of the range. Most of the ride along the range is flat to rolling hills, with a few longer climbs. Then there are two about 300 m, relatively moderate climbs to the passes in order to cross the range. It was a fun discovery ride of the West Desert, I saw several herds of wild horses and four pronghorn antelopes. Warm fall weather meant quite dusty roads, spring is probably better in this respect. Though a prime land for destruction by ATVs and such, their density was relatively low (I met about five cars, two ATVs and two motorcycles on 50+ miles of roads). | |
