Name: | Porcupine Rim trail - Moab |

Details: |
Another Moab classic. Those who are not wussies are doing this as a loop. My favorite is to start at the campsite at Sand Flats, ride up the Sand Flats road to the trailhead (relatively smooth climb on a gravel road). Then comes a bumpy climb on slickrock ledges to the rim, followed by no less bumpy descent on an old jeep road, finished by several miles of singletrack as the trail drops to the Colorado river. The loop is finished by about 10 miles of road back to Sand Flats. This time, I saved myself 0.3 miles and finished at the Slickrock trailhead, where I met my folks. Also, my GPS lost power in the middle of the descent, so, the trail map as well as distances are a bit messed up. | |
