Name: | Skyline trail loop - South |
|
Details: | Skyline Trail is a ridge trail in Wasatch east of Ogden. Its southern part starts at the Pineview trailhead, next to Pineview reservoir, climbs up to the high ridge at ca. 8000 ft. (with detour to Lewis Peak), then descends to the North Ogden divide. The climb up to Lewis Peak is mostly a nice smooth singletrack, descent to the divide is more rocky, and in 2003 it had exceptionally high amounts of loose rocks (thanks mostly to friendly horseriders). So, it is debateable, if it would not be better to descend down from Lewis Peak back to Pineview Trailhead. Those wishing to add some more mileage, do the loop. Continuing from the divide, one can take a trail east, that descends to the Ogden Valley, then follow several roads for about 3 miles (3200 North to 3300 north to SR 162 to SR 158, then hop onto new Pineview trail at the new North Arm trailhead off SR 158, and contour Pineview reservoir back to Pineview trailhead. | |
