A three day relaxation oriented backpack. The days were short, so, we hiked only about 4 hours each for the first two days, and quick one hour hike out on the third day. The weather was pleasant, mostly sunny with highs probably in the mid to upper 60s. A variable wind was annoying at a time, but, bearable. Once the sun went down, it was cool, but not cold. Warm pants and a fleece or two did the trick. We carried most of our water (1.5 gal/person, which would probably suffice for 2.5 days at a weather like this), however, there were several pools in Barks and LaBarge Canyons (two weeks after heavy rains) and water in LaBarge Spring. We filled about 3/4 gal each at LaBarge. First day, we hiked from Peralta Trailhead to LaBarge Spring via Bluff Spring and Dutchman trails. The climb up Bluff Spring trail took some time and energy, so, I abandoned the idea to continue on Terrapin trail and get to Charlebois Spring in one day. It would be doable if the day was longer and we started earlier. We were at LaBarge Spring at around 3pm after starting at about 11am. We ended the day with a campfire from driftwood from Bluff Spring Canyon and roasted sausages. The second day, we also got a late start, about 10.30am, went on Red Tanks trail and then on Whiskey Spring trail to Miners Summit, and from there down Dutchman trail to a campspot near intersection with Coffee Flat trail. Walking up LaBarge Canyon was relatively easy, and climb up Whiskey Spring trail also went smootly, so, we had a lunch near Miners Summit and arrived at the campsite again around 3pm, with enough time to relax and enjoy an hour of warm sun. Another campfire with test burning of various dead cacti ended the day. Last day we watched a nice sunrise, but still got off only at about 10am, and walked Dutchman trail back to Peralta trailhead in about an hour.
