Description: | This trail near Palm Desert is one of the prime desert singletracks in Southern California. I got together with Mark and Jerry to meet and ride it together.
We missed the trail at first, riding south up the wash, then realized the mistake and turned around. At least some freeriding. The trail is pretty mellow for about 1/2 mile going in and around a wash, but then starts switchbacking and gets quite gnarly for about another mile. Once one climbs about 1000 ft vertical, the trail is up and down on a pretty smooth singletrack with occasional tougher sections all the way to Mike Dunn Desert Oasis, where the trail ends. Here we turned around and rode it all back, which was much quicker than riding it up, though there is still about 900 ft of climbing on the way back. Total climbing is about 3500 ft. |
