Rode up Emigration Cyn. to Killyon Cyn. and up to pass. From here to Affleck Park and on Mormon Trail to Big Mtn. Pass. Did not meet any biker till the pass. After quick food stop, rode up to Big Mtn. The trail was pretty eroded, I had to push at several spots. There was a cloud above Mt. Dell basin all the time. At the ridge road, a lighting came to the right of me from (almost) clear sky. This ominous sign quite freaked me out. I quickly continued to get off the ridge. At the turnoff towards Lookout Peak, it started raining. Not too hard but enough to moisten the loose black soil under the aspens to stick on the tires and make mess on bike and myself. I struggled through the normally fun technical eroded trail on the eastern flanks of Lookout Peak. Liberation came once I reached the southeast ridge, which is rocky. At this point it also stopped raining, the descent was a lot of fun even in the heavily eroded bottom section. Ate lunch at the pass and cleaned the bike a bit. Then on Little Mountain Trail to Little Mtn. Pass and on the road back home. |
