| Description: | An attempt to combine several rides off Kane Springs Canyon into a good size semi-loop.
Started at at campsite in Kane Springs Canyon and rode to Hurrah Pass. From here down to turnoff to Camelot ranch. I left a 1.5 L water bottle here. Took the 4WD road towards Chicken Corner, which is relatively lame, but there are occasional scenic points. Chicken corner is quite nice, good view of the Colorado and one can walk on the cliff to the Gooseneck. Then I backtracked to my water cache, refilled and went on the Jackson Hole trail (4wd road) . This one goes north towards an abandoned meander of the Colorado and around it. Then comes a 500 ft vertical portage up Jackson Ladder. Up it's only 100 m or so to Amasa Back trail which I took to the Amasa Back and did a couple of hours of exploration, during which I found a trail that goes south into a slickrock wonderland. Then backtracked to the jeep road and rode to Kane Springs Canyon and back to the camp. |
