Name: | Nobel Canyon - Laguna Mountain |
|
Description: | Nobel Canyon is a relatively famous trail that goes from top of Laguna Mountain at about 5500 ft down to Pine Valley at about 3600 ft, about 45 miles east of San Diego. I parked at the Forest Service trailehead in Pine Valley ($5/day) and rode road up to Laguna Mountain. Some sections of the road were steep but it was easy riding on the pavement. Since it was reasonably warm even high up, I spent another couple of hours exploring the Laguna Mountain area, there are numerous singletracks that spin out of the main loop around the main meadow. Then I hopped o the Nobel Canyon singletrack and descended down. In parts it's a very smooth trail, in others it quite rocky, I ended up walking some sections. Near the end, the trail splits, one goes down the canyon to the road, the other that I took climbs up several hundred ft. to a small pass and then descends to the trailhead. Bottom line, quite technical ride but probably the best I have riden in San Diego area so far. | |
