Name: | Cassidy/Rich trail to Casto Canyon |
|
Description: | A ride in the Red Canyon area that tried to combine several singletrack trails into a loop. Started at the Visitor Center and rode up the paved bike path for a mile or so, then up on Cassidy and Rich Trail to Losee Canyon. The trail would be nice if it would not be for the scores of horse riders that made it quite loose and difficult to grip on uphills. Descent to Losee Canyon was hairy on the loose rocks but rideable. Then followed ascent up towards Casto which was again loose, so, there were some pushing sections. Then followed two pretty good miles of relatively flat and not too messed up singletrack. After this, descent down Casto Canyon. First few miles on singletrack, which was relatively rough, then on ATV track, which was rough only on several spots. Then return back to the Visitor Center on the road. Overall not too great of a ride, especially after riding Thunder Mountain. All the singletrack was damaged by horses, and the rest was ATV track that was also littered with loose rocks and not that interesting. The only upside was a decent scenery. | |
