Description: | American River Trail is a paved path that goes from Sacramento to Folsom along American River. We started at mile 10 and went up the stream. First we did not realize that the trail does not go on the left side of the river (where we parked). We started on a dirt road that goes on a top of the levy. Then the levy disappeared and we went on some trails along the river, until we hit a dead end. So, we backtracked a bit and then followed some streets to reconnect with the American River Trail at Goethe Park. From then on, things were pretty smooth. We stayed in the left side of the river to Folsom, then climbed up to Folsom Lake, looked at the famous Folsom Prison on the other side of the river and explored a trail that went on along the lake shore. Then we turned around and went back to downtown Folsom, which looks pretty touristy. Then we went back on the right bank and did the other side of the trail. Then it was just an hour of sailing on smooth trail back to the car, which we reached soon before sunset. |
