Description: | On the day of driving back to Utah, we stopped one of the last warm points on the drive for a break - a couple of hour hike.
Auburn State Recreation Area covers land around confluence of North and Middle forks of American River, which carve deep canyons in the surrounding plateau. There are quite a few hiking and biking trails there. We parked at the SRA headquarters and hiked a loop consisting of Manzanita, Stagecoach and rail trail. There were some good views from Manzanita and interesting sections of old railroad including a historic concrete bridge on the rail trail. |
