Description: | Silverado Trail is a road going from Napa to Calistoga. It has bike lane along the 30 mile length, so we figured it'd be a good place to explore the Napa Valley. It was quite foggy when we got to Napa on Saturday morning, so we kept driving north away from the bay in hopes for the fog to break. It did near St. Helena, a small town about 15 miles north from Napa. We parked behind the Chamber of Commerce, next to a fancy hotel and a winery, and set out for the ride. Silverado Trail road was semi busy, but the bike lane was good enough. There was numerous wineyards and wineries along the way, and the area smelled of fermented grapes. At the entrance to Calistoga, we found the famous mineral water company. Then went to touristy historic downtown, had a lunch in a nearby park and tried to see local geyser - the entry fee was $8 and it was well gated, so, we skipped that. Then we rode back, with a little side trip into the hills. |
