Description: | A warm fall weekend is an ideal time for a ride to Mueller Park, in the mountains east of Bountiful. I prefer to do this as a half day ride going from home in SLC.
I first rode on the road via upper Avenues to City Creek and from there onto the Shoreline heading to the radio towers and then to North Salt Lake. The construction boom there is definitely over as there's no new houses being built on the bench and most of the new ones are up for sale. I was happy to see that - that place was always an eye sore - and unfortunately will be with all the new houses already in there. Then I went along the Bountiful Blvd for a bit and then headed north to North Canyon. The first day of deer hunting season was obvious with lots of pickups and horse trailers parked up the road. It was not all that busy on the trail, though, I met several parties with horses, a few motorcyclists and a few hikers. What's most important, noone around was shooting. On Rudys Flat I ate about 1/2 lb of raisins - the only snack food I can eat during this multiple allergy elimination diet I am trying now (needless to say, this diet sucks big time). Then I had a fun descent down, though, the trail was fairly busy. Then I rode back on Bountiful Blvd and retraced my steps to City Creek. Here I opted for following the Shoreline further to Dry Creek - mainly since I did not climb out of City Creek for a long time. I was already tired so the climb out was tough, but, it paid back with an always fun descent down Dry Creek. Then I just took bunch of roads back home. |
