Name: | Little Park area trails, Grand Junction |
|
Description: | A half day ride on the southern outskirts of Grand Junction that has many excellent trails that can easily compete with everything around Fruita. Started at the Monument Road trailehead and rode up and down Gunny Loop. In about 2 miles I took a wrong turn (south) and climbed up a very technical, and not yet commisioned Holy Cross Trail. This one ends up on the Tabeguache trail, which is a jeep road. I took it for about 1/2 mile to Little Park Road, and then rode the road down to where Gunny loop intersects the road. I hopped back to Gunny Loop and rode it all the way to dirt road that ends back at Little Park Road. From here, I rode few hundreds meters down the road, and then left on a trail that descends downcanyon to Ribbon Trail. Rode Ribbon up and down, it's mostly relatively rideable up, though some slickrock sections are somewhat tiring. Then rode Ribbon back down, and a bit downcanyon from where I first got in climbed up Andy's Trail, which was heavily eroded. Then rode Andy's to its end, intersection with Eagle. Took this one to Tabeguache Trail and back to the car. Overall a great ride, not that long but definitely strenuous. Too bad the GPS spontaneously turned off at Andy's, so, about 3/4 miles of the exact track are missing. There was not much climbing/descending on this section, but, probably would make the whole ride a bit over 20 miles. | |
