| Description: | Second day of riding in South Yuba recreation area, I tried to ride most of the trails in the western part. Parked at a small parking area near Round Mountain, and rode a series of singletracks to Round Mountain trail, which descends in five switchbacks to the South Yuba trail between Edwards and Purdon crossings. Then rode South Yuba trail up to Edwards Crossing, the trail in about the middle was pretty exposed and rocky, so, one needs to be careful not to nosedive in the river. Then I rode back, the section to Purdon crossing is pretty mellow. On the way back, I met several people looking for gold in the river. Then climbed back up on Round Mountain trail, it's not very steep but long, and on a couple more singletracks went back to the car. |
