Name: | Steven's Creek - Monte Bello parks ride |
|
Description: | An afternoon ride during Clusterworld conference. The location turned out to be a good choice despite clouds, fog and cold in the upper parts. Started at the Stevens Creek reservoir and rode up paved Montebello road to the end of the pavement, and then higher up on the dirt road to beacons at Black Mountain. This translates to about 800 m of climbing. It was quite windy and chilly there. Then I hopped on a singletrack that descends down to Stevens Canyon. Most people ride the canyon down, I explored the dirt road up and in several hundred meters I emerged at Monte Bello preserve parking lot. From here, I took several trails, mostly singletrack, which after 3 miles or so connected back to the Canyon trail a.k.a. dirt road going down Stevens Creek canyon. Then I rode down for a while, first on dirt, then on pavement, back to the car. GPS fared a bit better, but still not too great, so, the total ride distance was about 37 km and 1550 m climbing. | |
