Name: | From SLC to Kamas |
|
Description: | Warm temperatures mean return of long rides. The last May Sunday I rode from SLC to Kamas, to meet with Shelly and her sisters who were hanging out at their cousin Melinda's house. Started as usual up Emigration Canyon and then up Mormon Trail to Big Mountain Pass. Then down Little Emigration, which due to dry spring is in about the same shape as it's normally in the middle of the summer. Then up East Canyon road to 24-7 trail to Kimball Junction. Then on the road to Silver Summit and onto the Rail Trail. Here I had some issues with flats, which meant frequent stopping. From Wanship I took Hwy. 32 to Kamas. This part of the ride was not that great, I had pretty strong head wind, the traffic was fairly heavy with no shoulder, and, I had another flat right before Kamas. Being out of tubes, I just kept repumping the flat tire till I got to Melinda's. The flatting made me more tired than I was expecting, but, perhaps, that's just the shape I am in. Lesson learned with this is not to ride on too bald tires even when most of the terrain expected for the ride is on the road. | |
