| Description: | On Sunday evening I went for a quick spin in Fountain Hills. The plan was to explore connection to McDowell County park via Dixie Mine trail. Climb up Golden Eagle Blvd. took a bit longer than I thought. The Dixie Mine trailhead is within a gated neighborhood that is still being developed. Apparently, the developers only know this single trail since all the signs read "Trail Head" - no mention of the actual trail name. The trail is a nice singletrack, a bit rocky, but rideable. By the time I got to the mine, the sun was going down so I opted for riding down dirt road that serves as an access to Thompson Peak. It's gated at the bottom, but, from the obvious tire tracks, I was not the only one climbing over the gate. Then followed a quick descent back to the house. | |
