Description: | Sunday ride on Dinotrax is traditionally associated with the "boat ride", that is part of the Dowd Mountain loop ending with 1500 ft descent to Flaming Gorge reservoir via Hideout Canyon trail.
Me and Gary decided to ditch the cars this time and ride to the trailhead from Red Canyon Lodge and then from the boat back on the road to the lodge. The ride to the trailhead was not too bad, it took us about 45 min. The ride back was more brutal, mainly due to baking midday sun during the climb up to the plateau above the canyon. Still, we made it back in about 1.5 hour. I then proceeded to the Red Canyon visitor center and rode the Red Canyon Rim trail west to east, and then came back to the campground on the road. The Rim trail surprised me as it was rockier than I thought, I got more bumped up than on the rest of the ride. |
