Description: | Day two of trip to Cedar City. The plan was about 20 miles of singletrack, which turned a bit more than that due to trouble finding the last trail.
Started at almost 11000 ft and peddaled downhill on Sidney Peaks trail. Then went onto another famous overrated Brian Head downhill - Left Fork Bunker Creek. It actually was not too bad, some smooth singletrack, some loose rocks. Then went up Right Fork, which is an alternative for the downhill. The climb up was told to be more mellow, and probably was, but, there were some rocky spots that I had to walk. Then I went down Sidney Peaks road and missed the turnoff to Lowder Ponds. Actually, I followed my GPS with old USGS maps that show the trail about a mile south from where it really is. So, after some route finding, I went to the highway, and then up north again through a subdivision and to Lowder Ponds. Here it took me some time again to find the trail and then it was just a climb back to Sidney Peaks and to the car, just in time having to take off. |
