| Description: | The plan for Saturday was to ride a road loop on Markagunt Plateau, starting at the intersection of Hwy 14 and road to Cedar Breaks and go counter-clockwise with finish through Cedar Breaks. It cooled off a bit and the day started cloudy, so, I set off in a jacket going mostly flat or downhill towards Duck Creek. The road was quite busy but fortunately I was going reasonably fast. Then I turned off to Mammoth Road, which to my surprise is paved all the way. The clouds disappeared and it was fairly warm around 8000 ft elevation. Past Mammoth Creek the road starts climbing, and the westerly winds picked up. By the time I was at 9500 ft, the wind was fairly strong and made the climb cold and annoying. It was good to finally reach the intersection with road to Cedar Breaks. I stopped at a few overlooks and then headed back to the car. | |
