Description: | The plan for Friday afternoon was to ride the part of Virgin Rim which I have not ridden yet, that is west from Te-Ah campground at Navajo Lake. I first thought about riding the highway to Navajo Lake, but, then I realized that there is a possibility for a "low" way from Webster Flat to Navajo Lake via series of dirt roads that go through Kolob Terrace.
So, I took off from a spot not far from Webster Flat and rode south, downhill, for a bit. The road was in good shape, well packed, only with occasional loose sections. It went mostly downhill but there were a few uphills from the small drainages. Then at a flat meadowy area called The Plains I turned north and started climbing back up. The climb was not too bad, fairly gradual. In 3 miles or so I got onto the North Fork Road and soon was at Navajo Lake. Here I hopped on Virgin Rim trail, which more-less contours, with some smaller up and downhills to the dirt road that goes to Webster Flat. From here, the trail climbs a bit to a small hill and then descends to the Deer Haven campground. From there it was just a short dirt road ride back to the car. |
