Description: | Day 5, the last day of our tour, we woke up to a sunny but a bit cool day. We took off from Monsteras on a nice new bike path towards Oskarskamn along E22 and did not realize that we veered off Cykelsparet. After we realized our mistake, we had to head back west on one of the sider roads and against a cold headwind. We rejoined the route on a small farm village and headed north through some forests to a seaside town of Paskalavik and through some more forest to Oskarshamn. Here we noticed some Czech-like apartment housing and stopped at local Lidl supermarket - known in Czech for low prices and crappy food. Here the food did not look all that bad and we stocked up on some stuff which was fairly cheap and fairly tasty. Then we went on to the town center, which has a few interesting streets but overall nothing special. We had lunch on the town square, it was quite windy and we searched for the sun to warm up. After lunch, we headed towards the harbor and then along the coast to Saltvik. From here, we headed west a bit, crossed E22 and headed north along the road. A bit further north we headed east towards the sea again, but, went off the paved road onto a dirt road that went up and down through a forest until we popped out at a seaside town of Figelholm. Here we stopped a bit to check out the marina and then continued further northeast on a wide road that was fairly busy (well, not too bad, just a bit more cars than we usually saw) to the Simpevarps nuclear power station - one of three in Sweden. It's on a spot of a former small village which the power company restored and where they have a visitors center. We climbed onto an observation tower from which was a good view at the station, spent some time by ourselves at the visitors center and then rode around a bit. I was surprised to see a huge parking lot between the reactor halls 2 and 3, but, in perspective, it was reasonable since there is supposedly about 1500 employees. We spent a good hour there and then headed northeast to another small town, Misterhult, nested in the middle of the woods. From here we just rode a few km north, and said goodbye to Cykelsparet. We took a dirt road further northwest to Mortfors, the terminus of our ride. Here we first stopped at the pension whose owner was surprised and not speaking much English. She called Mari's uncle who lives next door who explained us how to get to Dadi's house (Mari's dad's cousin) who lives a bit off from the town. Then we rode about a km and stopped at the spot by the lake where the wedding preparations were taking place. We met with the friends and hanged out a bit. Then we rode another km to cabin of Mari's uncle Ulf who brought our suitcases. We chatted some more and then finally turned west and rode to Sjovik - where our hotel is located. It was still about 7 km and I was getting a bit concerned if we are on the right track since there were some dirt roads spurring from the main road. Finally, we saw a rock with three ducks which meant that we found the house and our ride was over.
do pobřežní obce Paskalavik, a pak zase dál lesem do Oskarshamnu. Na vstupu nás uvítaly česky vypadající věžáky
(architektura 70. let nyní prý kritizovaná) a supermarket Lidl.
Zde jsme strávili dobrou hodinu a pak
Pak jsme jeli přes lesy a
hory a doly do Sjoviku, což je pár chalup u dalšího jezera, asi dalších 7 km. Byl jsem rád když jsme zahlédli
chalupu a před ní kámen se třemi namalovanými kačenami, znamení že jsme našli ten správný dům, a naše cesta byla u
konce. |
