Description: | On Saturday we started heading north, and decided to do one more shorts hike in Sedona. After looking at the map I got a few years ago I chose Bear Mountain, which northwest of Sedona. The hike goes from a parking area at ca. 4600 ft. to ca. 6400 ft summit, which is not visible from the road - it's hidden behind the first cliff. The trail was climbing steeply about 2/3 of the way but it was not too bad. Even the way down was not as bad on the knees as I thought. Still, it took us longer than I thought to cover those 5 or so miles. The efforts were worth it though, there are great views to the whole Sedona area especially from the upper half of the trail. |
