| Description: | Ironton is a ghost town about 8 miles north of Ouray. There is bunch of trails in the area some of which are occasionally groomed by Ouray nordic club. Our trip did not fall into those days, there was not much of evidence of grooming but there was quite a few skiers which made some tracks. I skied first on my fancy Salomon skis which was not that great of an idea since there was no track and some of the terrain was steeper and in need of wider skis. So, then I switched to my old Atomics and skied the northern part. Overall a good area for exploration but don't bring track skis. | |
