Title: Real-time Doppler wind quality control and analysis

Authors: Qin Xu (NOAA/NSSL), Penfei Zhang, Shun Liu and Liping Liu (OU/CIMMS)

Built upon the recent success derived from the Collaborative Radar Acquisition Field Test (CRAFT) project, a real-time radar wind analysis system was developed at NSSL-CIMMS to process WSR-88D level-II Doppler velocity data and produce vector winds on the lowest conical surface of radar scans (0.5 degree). This system has been running since June 2002 and applied to a dozen of WSR-88D radars. It has not only produced real-time displays of vector wind fields but also demonstrated important utilities in monitoring and recording data quality problems and wind analysis quality problems. The problems encountered and solutions will reported at the workshop.
