Exploring Landsat satellite imagery
NASA, as part of the Pathfinder program, supports access to Landsat satellite imagery in a number of places. We will use one source from the Michigan State University accessed here . There is a lot of information here.

  • Based on the products generated from Landsat imagery, give a rough estimate of native forest remaining in the Amazon basin and over southeast Asia in 1986.

  • How much regrowth is underway in the Amazon Basin? A little or a lot?

  • Why is the reforestation taking place? Go out on the Internet and search for a discussion of the changes in land use in the Amazon Basin.
