Meteorology 1020 Climate Change: An Atmospheric Perpsective A Physical and Life Sciences Foundations Course

Philosophy and Objectives: Meteorology 1020 is designed to introduce students of all backgrounds to the science and controversy of significant environmental issues such as global warming, deforestation, and ozone depletion There are no prerequisites. Major topics include: global warming? has it already happened? why all the fuss about El Nino? how do volcanos affect climate? will the ozone hole ever form over Utah? how can we trust a model to predict the climate 100 years into the future when we can't even predict the weather a couple of days in advance? what are politicians around the globe doing about global warming? Course Format: A blend of lectures and hands-on access to information on climate change via the Internet are used. The Internet Companion is a resource for viewpoints and scientific information on environmental issues.
