Meteorology 3000- Mountain Weather and Climate
Assignment 9. Due November 8.
This assignment is intended for you to learn about the risks of human activity at high altitude.
Using resources available via the Internet, journals, texts, etc., write a 2-page (double spaced), full margin, short paper on one of the following topics:
- hypothermia
- snowblindness
- chilblains
- trench foot
- frostbite
- acute mountain sickness
- chronic mountain sickness
- pulmonary edema
Your discussion should be done in the context of activity at high altitude, not, for example, pulmonary edema due to other causes.
Your paper should include the following as well as other relevant information: what is the cause of the condition? How can it be prevented? What is the treatment?
List all reference material on a separate (third page).
