Assignment 4. Due September 12.
The goal of this assignment is to gain familiarity with the MesoWest/ROMAN user interface and investigate local microclimates.
MesoWest/ROMAN
- 1. Go to MesoWest and read the help pages to learn how to access weather information.
- 2. Organize your answers in a simple regular format for the following questions.
- 3. Bring up the current weather conditions at the top of the William Browning Building.
- a.Summarize the current weather conditions in terms of temperature, dew point temperature, relative humidity, wind, and pressure. Use metric units. Be sure to indicate what time the observations are valid.
- b. Summarize briefly the weather during the past 10 days. What was the maximum/minimum of: temperature, dew point temperature, relative humidity, pressure, wind speed, and precipitation? When did these extremes occur?
- c. What changes in either temperature, moisture, pressure, precipitation, wind appeared to take place every day? Which did not?
- d. To what extent do you think the local terrain influenced the weather that took place each day?
- 4. Repeat the previous question for Mount Washington, NH. Answer the questions only for the variables that are available. Hint: search for Washington,NH.
- 5. Repeat #3 for the weather station nearest to Hoopa,CA.
- 6. Repeat #3 for another weather station located in a mountain valley (or mountain top).
- 7. Email your answers.
