Decoding METAR Observations

The METAR code is used to transmit weather observations from stations around the world. ithe types of observations reported and the code are designed primarily for the needs of the aviation industry.

1. Decode the following observations for September 5-6,2001 when severe weather was taking place around the area. Write the decoded observations neatly in some sort of tabular form. Be sure to indicate units and identify the time in Mountain Daylight Time and GMT. Explain why special obs were reported on several occasions. Decipher as well the information in the remarks section.

2. Summarize briefly the weather changes that took place on Sept 5-6 at SLC.
