Purpose: To become familiar with using Gempak interactively. Develop ability to print graphics and create graphics files.
.) Create a subdirectory called gempak.
.) Copy all of the .nts files out of /home/atmos/f/skrueger/class/met341/assign4/ to your subdirectory gempak.
.) Develop and save a .nts file that uses gdcntr to display in an X window a contour plot of gridded 500 mb temperatures over the western U.S.
.) Create and save a .nts file that uses gdwind to display in an X window gridded 300 mb vector winds as wind barbs. Use the GEMPAK variable SKIP to plot wind barbs at every second or third grid point in both N-S and E-W directions.
.) Create and save a .nts file that uses gdplot to write a PostScript file that will print 300 mb wind barbs and 300 mb height contours on the same plot.
.) Create and save a .nts file that uses gdcntr to create a gif image file of a contour plot of gridded 700 mb relative humidity using contour filling for RH greater than 70% and less than 30%. Use different fill colors for the two ranges.
