DESCRIPTION OF double_blend.mat and RASS_RWP.mat DOUBLE_BLEND.mat: This matlab file contains thermodynamic and wind variables on an hourly grid at 10 meter elevation increments. It is constructed through a combination of sounding data, surface observations, RASS, and RWP data. Above about 2500 m the data is solely from the soundings. within the .mat file you will find: blended: Potential Temperature (K) BlendTC: Air temperature (C) PRES: Pressure (hPa) DPth: Dewpoint temperature RHth: Relative Humidity ublend: U wind (m/s) vblend: V wind (m/s) hgts: Altitudes (m) master: Timestamps (matlab serial time) RASS_RWP.mat: This file contains variable on the temporal and spatial grids of the RWP and the RASS. These grids are different in both range gates and time. The RASS data goes from the surface to 2572 m while the RWP data goes to 5162 m. The time interval for each is about 30 minutes, with some slop. The 30 minute intervals are NOT the same for each device. within the .mat file you will find: THblend: Potential temperature on the RASS grid RASSpres: Pressure on the RASS grid THblendRWP:Potential temperature on the RWP grid TCblend: Air temperature on the RASS grid tv: inpainted virtual temperature on the RASS grid (not blended with sounding data) u: Zonal Wind Speed on the RWP grid v: Meridional Wind Speed on the RWP grid vert: Range gates for the RWP times: Matlab serial time for the RWP vert2: Range gates for the RASS times2: matlab serial time for the RASS
