I grew up in Tennessee, went to the University of Oklahoma to get my B.S. in Meteorology, and then moved to Salt Lake City, UT for graduate school. In SLC, I enjoyed the wide variety of outdoor activities available in close proximity to the city, including backcountry skiing, rock climbing, and trail running.
Climbing Mt. Shasta in California
I currently live with my fiance in northern New Mexico, where I continue to pursue the answers to exciting questions about global convection and spend plenty of time outdoors exploring my new home.
Skiing at Alta
I've been really fortunate to be able to participate in a number of very exciting field programs lately, including MC3E, StormVex, PCAPS, and a local deployment of the Doppler on Wheels (DOW).
When I'm not at work or in the field, I enjoy spreading my love of science by educating local students as a guest lecturer in classes and through after-school programs. I volunteer with the Cottonwood Canyons Foundation to lead ecology field trips around Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon and snowshoe field trips at Spruces Campground. I'm also a guide for the Wasatch Wildflower Festival.
