A three day trip to Moab with my parents. The plan was to allow me to do some bike riding, and to my parents to see some of the Moab sights that they haven't seen yet.
We left Sunday morning, and in early afternoon pulled to a nice campspot off Dalton Wells Road, by the new (2003) Sovereign singletrack trail. I went for a ride, my parents for a hike to the nearby slickrock plateau and to a greenish hill to the northwest. Fotos and trail map from my ride are here. Then followed a solitary, relatively warm evening with a cool campfire.
Here are some more fotos from the day.
On Monday, we drove to Arches NP. I thought on finally going to Fiery Furnace, but, the $8 per person permit fee was too much. Instead, we drove to the Devils Garden traihead and hiked to the Double O Arch and back. Fotos and trail map from the hike are here.
In the afternoon, we moved to the Sand Flats, the parents rested and I rode the Slickrock trail, more-less a must while being in Moab. It was a pleasure ride, no crowds on Monday afternoon, I met less than 10 riders on the whole trail. Fotos and trail map from the ride are here.
Then followed another warm, though less quiet evening with a movie and a campfire.
Here are some more fotos from the day.
On Tuesday, I rode the Porcupine Rim loop, starting at the campsite, and finishing on the Slickrock parking lot. Fotos and trail map from the ride are here. The parents drove up Sand Flats Road, and then hiked the practice loop of Slickrock Trail. Seeing people riding on the trail was quite an experience, especially my mom said she'll be worried every time I go to Moab.
Here are some more fotos from the day.
After meeting in the early afternoon, we drove back to SLC.
